Put the subscription control and the applied discount inside the cart drawer
The cart line carries a delivery-frequency dropdown with its price, the discount shows as a removable chip, and a trust line sits under checkout.

What it is
The cart drawer opens with "Congrats! You've unlocked Free Shipping" and a note that subscribers can skip, edit or cancel anytime. The line item has a dropdown showing frequency and price together, with the subscribed price beside the struck one. A "Most customers add" carousel follows, the totals show the welcome code as a chip, and a padlocked "Secure checkout" button has a review-count trust line beneath it.
Why it works
The cart is the last place a shopper reconsiders the plan, so the control belongs there rather than only on the product page. Showing the code as an applied chip confirms the saving, and the trust line catches last-second doubt. Only show a free-shipping or volume reward the store really offers; these are trivial to copy and easy to fake.
How to test it
- Hypothesis
- Adding a subscription frequency control to the cart line, with the applied discount as a chip and a trust line under checkout, will lift subscription share and checkout start rate.
- Primary metric
- Checkout start rate from the cart
- Guardrail metric
- Subscription share of orders, to confirm the in-cart control does not push buyers back to one-time
